# Configuring reviews

inline has two layers of configuration: **workspace defaults** and **per-repo overrides**. A repo left on "inherit" follows the workspace default; set any other value to override it for that repo. Set workspace defaults under **Review config** in the portal; set overrides on each repository's settings page.

## Review behavior

| Setting | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Enabled** | — | Whether the repo is reviewed at all (per-repo only). |
| **Severity threshold** | Medium | Findings below this severity are suppressed. Raise to High for mature repos; lower to Low for critical ones. |
| **Review identity** | Bot | Post reviews as the inline bot, or as the connected user. |
| **Custom instructions** | — | Free-text guidance inline applies during review. Team-specific rules that don't warrant a full [skill](./learnings.html#skills). |
| **Path filters** | *(defaults)* | Extra path patterns to never review, added to the [built-in ignore list](./review-cost.html#1-path-filters-free). |

## The merge gate

## Budget

| Setting | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Monthly budget (USD)** | — | Spend cap for the workspace. An alert fires at 80%. |
| **Budget degrade** | — | Past the cap, stop at triage and mark reviews incomplete (so they get a full review next month) rather than skipping. |

## Optional modules (per-repo toggles)

Each of these can be turned on per repo, or default from the workspace:

| **Auto-fix** | Offer verified [fix PRs](./auto-fix.html) for findings. |
| **Graph index** | Build a [code-graph index](./codegraph.html) for the repo. |
| **Breaking-change checks** | Cross-repo breaking-change detection. |

## MCP
